CLYC Member News Spring 2006
Thanks to Carol Magnus, Our unofficial Members' News Correspondent (or as
Julian says, Town Crier?)
We returned from a great Elderhostel trip late Fri evening. Went
to the Copper Canyon in NW Mexico and had a great group. We were kept on
the go and had NO goof time. Took lots of pictures and saw and learned a
lot. Glad to be home. Came home with a very mild cold but I have absolutely
NO voice so we have a very quiet house!
We are already talking summer and trying to think of warm and sunny
Crooked Lake. We hope to arrive in mid May and will spend most of the
summer in Oden. We do have to return to Cincy the 2nd weekend in July for a
nephew's wedding.
Here's the news I have which is from before we left.
John Coble is doing really well. He flies to Indianapolis for Chemo
once a week for 3 weeks and then off a week. So far he is handling it very
well and is busy playing golf and keeping very busy.
Had dinner with the Zerges in January. They spent about a week with
the Guttman's in Florida in Feb and the Guttman's are doing great. They all
went from Palm Beach to Miami Beach and had lunch with Larry and Pat Kaine
one day. Jane just turned 89 and Gene will be 90 on March 11th. Wow!
Spoke to the Montgomery's just before we left- they too are doing
great. Ray turned 89 in Feb and Billie will be 89 in June. I talk to
them about every 2 weeks or so but with no voice, I can't communicate for
now.
We also had dinner with Sally and Stan Mosier in January. It was fun
catching up and we hope to see them again before summer gets here. They told
us that Gene Gulbransen had a stroke just before they were to return to CA
last fall and had spent the winter in Oden. I don't know much more about
that.
Eddie and Mary Epstein are currently in FL for about 4 weeks in a
place near the Guttman's. They have spent some time with them and said they
were fine.
That's about all the news I have for now. CarolSend your news and pictures to
drr@ltbay.net and we'll put them on the
web too!
